A trend is defined as “a general direction in which something is developing or changing.” In our own industry, the Beanie Baby trend 15 years ago took the toy-selling world by storm. In 1999, I had just opened my second store. Looking out at the lines of people at our registers buying Beanies made me realize the importance of trends as customer magnets. We could have sold a lot more then we did, but because Ty had trouble meeting the huge demand, we had to limit the number each person purchases so that there would be enough to go around….
